**3.5 Stars**
The story starts with Finn, an elite military man, sitting in a boring training class… and I almost did a double take. But almost immediately, the person who comes on stage to lead the next segment of the training is Niall – a super smart (and perhaps somewhat nerdy) man that catches Finn’s eyes. From there, they come together and there are fireworks in the bedroom – culminating in a threat aboard the oil rig Niall is decommissioning and Finn is trying to protect.

This is a very short novella, about 66 pages, and the story and depth of characters and action matched the length perfectly. I learned just enough about Niall and Finn, their fears and their insecurities before the action happened. And this book was packed with action. A majority of the novel takes place on the oil rig that has been hijacked – with Niall doing everything he can to stay alive and save the others while coming to the realization about his feelings for Finn. Meanwhile, Finn is trying to save Niall – and realizing at the same time, he was falling for Niall and was close to losing objectivity. The action was intense and of course, there was a superhero alpha involved!

While I would have loved to have seen their story develop over a longer period of time, it all came together nicely and was a very quick read. This is a good read for anyone who loves a hot military alpha and a super smart man who can hold his own.
While there are some romantic elements to the story (with Finn & Niall meeting and hooking up), this is more of an adventure story. Which is fine, just not quite what I expected ) But don't get me wrong, I really, really enjoyed it. I do have to warn you though that it is a short read … although that doesn’t stop Scott from delivering a heck of a ride.

Finn & Niall meet at a conference and their attraction to each other isn’t what they expect but it also can’t be denied. With their schedules though getting together isn’t all that easy, plus Finn isn’t much for relationships. It doesn’t stop them from falling for each other – it just keeps them from talking about it. Then, the hijacking of the oil platform with Niall on it happens. Now keeping his distance is the last thing on Finn’s agenda.

It’s refreshing that Scott has Niall be as important to the operation as Finn. He doesn’t have the training but he does have a sharp mind and a lot of guts. He’s not willing to go down without a fight and will do whatever he has to to help Finn do his job. There’s a lot of hair-raising moments that will keep you glued to the pages and you’ll feel a little worn out by the time it is all over. But in my mind that’s the mark of a really great storyteller – I got so caught up in it that I felt like I was right there with them every step of the way!

3.5* Review written for Love Bytes Reviews.

Every so often I encounter a book that, while enjoyable, still manages to give me trouble come review time. Overall, I found this to be a fairly easy read with its high points and few low and while not my preference, I’m going to do a pros and cons review due to my apparent inability to find adequate words. D

PROS

I always enjoy a good story featuring a main character that’s law enforcement or special forces but I’ve not encountered any books that featured a group specializing in hostage situations before so total kudos to the author for giving me something new to read. I found the idea of the group intriguing and while you don’t get to know more than a couple members of said group, I liked them. The main characters, Niall and Finn, were both flushed out nicely detail wise and the attraction between them was apparent which led to a couple of nice bedroom scenes. Also, the story, while on the shorter side, was enjoyable, and the reason for the hostage situation was unexpected and the resolution was entertaining to read about.

CONS

While its expected that there will be some things left out of a book of this length, I still admit to being disappointed that you don’t actually get to see much of Finn and Niall together once they initially hook up. You find that they’ve been together for several months at the time of the hostage situation but Niall’s declaration of love would’ve gone over better with me if I’d had a chance to see him and Finn together more than just the once before hand. If they had been an already established relationship at the beginning of the book (which I was honestly expecting based on the blurb) I might have felt that connection between the two men but, as it was, I wasn’t really feeling it. Honestly, the best part of the book to me was once Niall was on the Oil Platform and the rest of the book, while enjoyable, didn’t garner as much of my attention.

This was a quick, easy read and if you’ve enjoyed this author’s works previously, you’ll probably enjoy this one too. If you’re looking for any kind of deep meaningful relationship between the characters, however, you may come away a tad bit disappointed.
interesting story line good writing
Loved it
The plot and character development were well done for such a short story. It was an enjoyable read.
This book has it all. It's Sweet, hot and dangerous. A nerd falling for a Delta and a hostage situation makes this a book you will not be able to put down. Love the dual POV.
Very short so not much depth to it and still enough of it to keep it going smoothly. Interesting take on an elite corp.
Sexy, kinda sweet too.
