Angela Peterson was always the quiet, shy kid growing up in Harper Falls, crushing on the high school quarterback and honing her football strategy skills. Now grown up and coaching the high school team, she's shocked when that same sexy quarterback returns to Harper Falls, asks her back to his hotel room...and then tries to steal her job.
Injured NFL quarterback Cade Reynolds is in Harper Falls to take over as interim head coach, and he never thought the tall, blond bombshell he propositioned would offer up any resistance. Not to a repeat of the amazingly wild night they shared and certainly not to his coaching position.
But the Harper Falls High Eagles are Angie's team, and even the hometown hero won't take that away from her, no matter how hot he is. As the two engage in a battle of wits and wills, this is one game neither is prepared to lose.

Cade has returned to the small town, Harper Falls, where he grew up following a possible career ending injury to his football career. As part of his rehab and downtime, he’s decided to help his high school coach to take over the team while his coach bounces back from his own health issues. Problem is, there is already someone that is doing just fine of a job leading the team to a possible championship season, Angie. Angie and Cade had gone to high school together, though three years apart, however she gave him a piece of advice back then that stuck with him throughout his career. Over the years though, the geeky girl with the big glasses has evolved into a bombshell that knows just about everything about the game of football. Cade is enamored with all things Angie, however she’s concerned she’ll be out of a job, simply because she is a woman. Will she get the chance to prove herself once and for all?I liked the book and it’s storyline. I liked the heroine and how strong she was and that she played an untraditional role. She was on the outside of an “old boys club” but she didn’t let that deter her. I liked the chemistry between Angie and Cade and the heat between the two of them is palpable. From the very beginning I was sucked in and it was a quick read. The story is told a third person point of view.
This is my first book by Jackie Barbosa and I’ll definitely check out others. Fans of football and sports romances will love this one, especially if they are fans of strong heroines, I know it worked for me

Skin in the Game Play Action Book 1 edition by Jackie Barbosa Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews
This is the only romance I've read where the heroine is a football coach, and a good one. Pair her up with a pro football player who may want her job, and trouble ensues.
Barbosa makes it work, and does it in a fun, sexy way with plenty of heart.
Loved it. It was a one night read, but that's the worst thing I could say about it. In my opinion the author needs to write more contemporary romance. For a sports lover it had just the right amount of realism, along with a heaping dose of romantic fantasy. Fantastic characters, fantastic story, completely hooked.
Two things I love are romance novels and football, and Ms. Barbosa gave me both. Angie's high school crush and Pro NFL player Cade is back in town, and now she's forced to work with him coaching their high school football team. Cade came back to town at the urging of his former coach and friend. His plan was to help coach the team then back to the NFL, Angie was not part of his plan. This story flows wonderfully with lots of laughs and love. I hope there is a second book for Rachel and Warren's story.
As an NFL fan, I am a sucker for a good football romance. But as they say about good science fiction (it must be good science AND good fiction), I need it to be good football AND good romance. I've read some where the football was wrong (or completely unbelievable), and others where the romance didn't work for me. I'm happy to say that this book has good football, good romance and a huge bonus a woman football coach.

For a fast read this book was worth the money! I bought it hoping my interested from reading the sample would hold through the whole book and it really did. Good story line and good characters that drew me into the book. My only negative one this book would be the best friends. Cade is best friends with Warren, at least that's what it says several times in the book. When he hears about his accident though his response is what does that have to do with me. I believe Angela had more of a heart felt reaction then Cade did, could have made that best friend statues more believable is all. Other than that this story hooks you to the end and doesn't disappoint!
Yup, here I am reviewing another Entangled Brazen release. I swear, I've pretty much read them all. I should be on an auto-buy list.
Angela Peterson was my favorite part of the book. Great, strong heroine which is good for a contemporary romance. Unfortunately, CR titles tend to feature meek females which I normally hate, so it was good to have Angela to cheer for. Cade Reynolds was also a good hero. He was well developed and sexy as hell. I'm a big football fan so I really enjoyed the sports angle. I don't get to read enough of those.
The reason I'm giving it a four and not a five is because of how the characters are introduced. Why Cade is in town is completely unlikely if not impossible for a current football player. Now, if you don't know football you won't care, but I do. I have to believe what you're telling me is possible and I just don't.
All-in-all I did enjoy this one and I will look for other Jackie Barbosa titles in the future. I just hope next time she does more research.
What a great story with strong leading characters. I loved how confident, determined, and relatable Angie was. She was great with her math students, loved by her football players and so sweet with her dad. I enjoyed how she kept Cade on his toes throughout the story and how much he tempted her to let go to do things out of her comfort zone. They were great together - supportive of the other, understanding of the other's position, and physically drawn to each other, neither wanting to be apart. Their story was sweetly written, and made me love the ending.
I received this book in exchange for an honest review from the publisher through Netgalley.
